After 10+ years of creating content, you’d think I’d have this down to a science. I do… sort of. 😂
A few things I’ve learned:
👉🏼 Don’t overdo it. I cap myself at 3 locations + around 8 videos. You do NOT need to shoot all 47 ideas you’ve saved🤪
👗 Bring options. I mix my own closet with thrift finds + Rent the Runway.
💇🏼♀ Prep the night before. I do my own hair + makeup, and day-two hair is my personal content-day hack.
🧼 Skin prep matters. Good skincare makes a HUGE difference in how my makeup looks + how confident I feel on camera.
💆🏼♀ My slightly extra hack: Lymphatic drainage massage the day before tighter outfits. I swear it made a difference.
🧠 Work WITH your brain. I save ideas in Notes as they come to me, then dump everything onto giant Post-its until I look like Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind. 😂 From there, I use ChatGPT to organize the chaos and turn scripts into bullet points so I still sound like ME… Chatty (yes that’s what I call her, is really shitty at being creative but she’s really good at helping me get organized and scaling my Grand ideas 💡)
Confession—And even after all that prep, I got overwhelmed the morning of this shoot and my brain went completely blank.
My fix? Start with the easiest video. One quick win got me out of shutdown mode, built my confidence, and then we were CRANKING.
And having a great 🎥 crew matters!! @_jackson_white_ + @lifefromluke from @therzmmedia rolled with my chaos, kept the energy up and even fed me bullet points when my brain needed the assist 🫶🏼🙏🏼 their entire team @therickyzollinger and @derekmcconnell have been my go to collaborators for over six years now and I’m so grateful for them! They understand that I have big ideas and I love being the content director, and they helped me bring my ideas to life and the most fun and beautiful way.
Oh, and the Legally Blonde video we shot that day? Almost 12K views in under 3 days. 🎀
